GOBL Presents Rat Rios, Tomkat, Francine Thirteen (Photos by Nick Scholl)

DSC_0370

I thank Nick Scholl for taking these lovely photographs from my showcase at The Underpass earlier in February. The photos, however, do not tell the full story. The photos cannot show the unique intensity of the ritualistic performance of Francine Thirteen. No picture appropriate demonstrates the live skills of Tomkat. And no matter how good a photographer Mr. Scholl is, his camera cannot capture the beauty of Rat Rios‘ voice. Still, Nick’s photography does manage to capture much of the beauty in the performers and the performance.

  • Monday Mixteen: 12/11/17 Lately, it seems The Ghost has been short on words.  That tradition is breaking today… sort of.  I still have no commentaries for these sixteen tracks, but I did spend more time than usual typing the titles.  You see, today’s theme is long song titles.  More to the point, the songs have to be over [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 11/20/17 The Ghost almost never discusses music outside of the state of Texas.  Today, however, I will discuss a band that was a huge favorite of my teenage years, and still one of my all time favorite bands.  INXS were superstars of the 1980’s alternative rock movement, thanks to killer tracks like “The One Thing”, “What [...]
