Looking Back, and Looking Forward

The last band has played.  The doors are closed, and they will not reopen.  Denton has lost one of the greatest music venues it has ever had with the closing of Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio.  The long term consequences of losing such a major venue in the city will be seen in the upcoming months.  That, however, is a topic to be discussed another time.  For now, I share this photo I found on Brent Best’s Facebook page.  It’s not the literal rear view mirror, but the impact felt looking at this picture is the same.

How about some more cheerful news?  It’s time for another Acoustiganza at Opening Bell Coffee.  This one goes down Saturday, July 9th, and the lineup is pretty killer if you ask me.  I’ll go into more detail discussing the artists later, but for now you get another sample of my poster making “skills”.

  • Monday Mixteen: 2/19/18 I’ve designed this special playlist in honor of President’s Day. It’s an acrostic playlist, and here’s a little refresher from your high school English class: an acrostic poem forms a word with the first letter of each verse in the poem. Except in this case, it’s the song titles that form not a word, but [...]
  • The 17 Best Releases of 2017 The Ghost has always avoided doing Best Albums of the Year lists.  There is something intimidating about making such lists and making certain that your words are appropriately eloquent for each of the releases.  But for the first time, The Ghost is taking on the task… sort of.  What follows is an unranked listing of [...]
