Where the Ghost Will Be Tonight: 8/6/16

Fact: The Ghost is far better at curating lineups than creating posters for shows.  If in doubt, look at the poster above.  And honestly, that’s one of my BETTER posters.  Fortunately, today’s GOBL show at Cafe Bohemia is a musical lineup, not an art exhibit.

Today’s event begins at 6:30 and not 6, as Jeremiah Jackson will not be able to make today’s show. Camille Schuh starts off the fun at 6:30, followed by Sea.Shell.Ski at 7:15.  Emmeline goes on at 8, and Meia and Dillon Potter (aka Bunnifly) close out the night at 9 until close (10 pm).  With the exception of Sea.Shell.Ski, the other acts are GOBL show veterans who have showed why The Ghost loves to repeatedly book these acts.  I suspect Sea.Shell.Ski will join these ranks, as songs like “Falling Anvils” and “Stupid Butterflies” show off both her vocal and writing skills.

In addition to raving about the musicians, I also feel the need to say some words about the venue.  Not many in the music world know about Cafe Bohemia, and that’s really a shame.  It’s a lovely, intimate spot in East Plano with a really cool rustic, bohemian vibe to it.  Oh, and if you love chocolate cake, theirs is killer.

Good food, good people, good music, and good Ghosts.  What more can you ask from a lineup?  Other than maybe a professionally done event poster.

  • Spreading the Love: Emmeline & M... The Ghost is bringing back a feature called Spreading the Love, but this time there’s a twist.  Instead of myself writing about an artist I feel is worthy of attention, a local musician will be writing about one of his/her local favorite artists.  It’s only appropriate that the first guest columnist is Ellen Hinton (aka [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: New Year’s Day,... 2017 was a crazy roller coaster ride of a year for The Ghost.  I went the first two and a half months of the year without a peep of the blog due to life stresses.  After that, posts were sporadic as best.  In fact, The Ghost came close to taking an “indefinite hiatus” from the [...]
  • The 7 Best Performances of 2017 Let me just stipulate this fact: I have been to fewer local shows in 2017 than any year since probably 1999.  This started out as a rough year for The Ghost, and as a result, there are many excellent shows that I’ve missed out on.  I cannot claim that this a thorough and comprehensive look [...]
