Catching Up With The Ghost

bljsquare

Alright, let’s get a few things out of the way.  2017 has not been a good year for The Ghost.  My readers probably figured that out already, considering the fact that this is the first post on the blog all year long.  It would be wonderful if I could declare that The Ghost would be producing new content throughout the year, and possibly even booking shows and embarking on exciting projects brewing in this Ghost’s brain.  Alas, I can make no such guarantees of any of that.  What I can say is that I miss working on Ghost of Blind Lemon, and would love to do more of it in the very near future.  For now, now that posts will be posts will be coming irregularly at best, and infrequently at worst.

Still, with all the time that has lapsed, it only seems fair that I try to make it up to my readers.  And what better way to make up for 72 days of silence than with playlists featuring a total of 72 songs.  Consider the Spotify playlist making up for the void of posts in January and February, whereas the Soundcloud playlist makes up for the previous thirteen days in March.  These playlists feature cool tracks from artists in the metroplex and throughout the rest of the state of Texas, as well as a few that have moved past Texas state lines.  I know these playlists do not make up for the lack of interesting commentary throughout 2017, but it’s a start.

The first track comes courtesy of former Monahans kead singer Greg Vanderpool.  He sent me an email to attend his recent Twilite Lounge show, which I was not able to attend.  I have, however, repeatedly listened to “To Violet”, the lead [...]
  • Sunday Spotify 16: 5/7/17 Before I begin this playlist, let me give a big thank you to Kinsley August and everyone involved in the show A Tale of Three Folks at Plano Arts Centre Theatre.  Thanks to the crew from both Silas Nello and Glass Canons, to the Arts Centre Theatre staff, and everyone who attended the show. Now, [...]
  • Sunday Spotify 16: 4/30/17 Silas Nello (Feat. Jenna Clark), “Tell Me What You Need” It would be rather predictable of The Ghost to begin this playlist with a Kinsley August song.  After all, yours truly is hosting A Tale of Three Folks at Plano ArtsCenter, with Kinsley headlining the event.  The Ghost, however, does not want to be obvious [...]
  • Ten for Your Attention This Tuesday: ... Lots of great new (and new-ish) music to share, and I don’t have loads of leisure time to wax poetic, so let’s get on with this. Jared  Caraway (Jared & The Jewelers, shown above) was kind enough to let me debut a new track, “Fabric of My Soul”. There are some really strong guitar riffs [...]
