GOBL Radio: May 2018 Highlights

GOBL Highlights May 2018

I know, your life has likely felt empty and meaningless without a new episode of Ghost of Blind Lemon Radio this week on Deep Ellum Radio.  Not to fear, the radio show will return next week.  In the meantime, here’s a special playlist for you.  Since some of you may not be able to tune in Wednesdays 7-9 PM (or for the rebroadcast Thursdays 1-3 PM), it seems only right that I should let you sample some of what you’re missing.

Every month now, The Ghost will create a playlist, approximate 1½ hours long, spotlight some of the best tracks featured on my show this month.  Most of the tracks will be local, though I’ve included several songs featured in The Ghost’s Road Trip segment.  This playlist also leans heavier on new releases, though a few older tracks are thrown in for good measure.

Admittedly, it’s not the same as listening to my radio show.  On the down side, you’re missing out on all of my commentary.  Of course, it would be easy to argue that missing the speaking parts is the upside.  It’s all a matter of perspective.

  1. Big Red Ants, “Spoonful”

  • Monday Mixteen: 7/5/21 Yeah, I just haven’t felt like writing much lately.  Guess you could say that I’ve been a man (or Ghost) of few words lately. So, I figured I’d just stay on that path of few words.  One word, to be exact.  Not a single song title here longer than a word.  And no words from [...]
  • Where The Ghost Will Be Tonight: 6/18... Have you ever noticed that on a musician’s birthday, they always want to play their music?  Forget a chance to just relax and enjoy performances by their friends and favorite acts.  Nope, most it seems would rather take the opportunity to be on stage themselves. Tonight is the birthday of Leah Lane, who will be [...]

  • Monday Mixteen: 2/22/21 Last week was indeed a long week.  While The Ghost was without heat, neither power nor water services were disrupted.  That means that through space heaters, firewood, and cats, I made it through the week alright.  Plus, I had lots of spare time.  In fact, I took the opportunity to do some painting classes, where [...]
