GOBL Radio: July 2018 Highlights

July 2018 DER cover

The Ghost only had three radio shows in July.  Hey, this year, the Fourth of July fell on a Wednesday, so I took the day off.  I still managed to come up with 22 songs worth highlighting from this month.  And while this playlist gives you a nice taste of what my show sounds like, it is not meant to be a substitute for listening to the show.  It airs every Wednesday night, 7-9 PM, then is rebroadcast Thursday from 1-3 PM.

But enough lecturing.  Here are my chosen highlights from July.

  1. Maya Piata, “Garden”
  2. Dead Sullivan, “Due”
  3. Corner Suns, “Borrowed Time”

  • Monday Mixteen: 8/6/18 The Ghost has thoroughly enjoyed his summer break.  I’ve gotten to blog (relatively) more, seen more shows, and wrapped up this weekend with two phenomenal shows celebrating 11 years of Ghostness.  But alas, all good things come to an end, and so I will be returning to my day job.  I did a bit of [...]
  • The Ghost’s 7-11 Celebration You may be wondering why The Ghost feels compelled to celebrate a convenience store.  Granted, it originated in Dallas, but this is a music blog and not a convenience store blog.  Perhaps an explanation of the name is in order. Ghost of Blind Lemon debuted August 1, 2007.  The beginning of August will mark eleven [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 7/23/18 Don’t worry; The Ghost did not leave this week’s Monday Mixteen out in this brutal heat.  It just seemed like the perfect photo for this week, given this scorching weather and all.  Yes, it is way too hot to be outside unless absolutely necessary.  It’s better to find a nice indoor activity to do.  Something [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 7/16/18 There’s a lot that The Ghost doesn’t like about the summer: the heat, the wasps, the heat… did I mention I don’t like the heat?  One part of summer that The Ghost does like, however, is Free Week at Granada Theater.  For the course of about four days, the venue will host great local and [...]
