Monday Mixteen: 8/27/18

Monday Mixteen 20180827

Earlier this month was the 11 year anniversary of the beginning of this blog.  The blog anniversary is not to be confused with the birthday of myself, which was Saturday.  Thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday, as well as those who helped me celebrate it this Saturday.  In honor of that birthday, I have done yet another acrostic playlist with a message to myself, done Prince style.  You’ll see what I mean below.

  1. “Hangman”, Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials
  2. “Ain’t Gotta Worry Child”, Charley Crockett
  3. “Party Alone”, Midnight Opera
  4. “Politics”, Bobby Sessions
  5. “Younger Me”, Ron Bultongez
  6. “Better the Devil”, The Gibbonses
  7. “In the City”, Chilldren of Indigo
  8. “Repopulate”, The Delzells
  9. “Till the Cosmos Fall”, Dead Vinyl
  10. “Heavy Cream”, War Party
  11. “Darlin’ Don’t”, Kelly Marie (feat. Paul Demer)
  12. “Ain’t Tired”, Joe Savage
  13. “You Broke the Heart of the Indestructible Man”, Bullet Machine
  14. “2 Steps”, Chomsky
  15. “Marjorie”, Reddening West
  16. “Easy to Hurt”, Salim Nourallah

This playlist also marks a change in the Monday Mixteen playlist process.  This playlist’s name is simply Monday Mixteen.  From now on, the current playlist will be found on the Monday Mixteen playlist, with previous playlists being archived with the debut date.  Many have stated I should make the change in order for it to be easier to follow the playlist.  Also, by subscribing to the playlist, you’ll always be in the know about The Ghost’s Monday Mixteen playlists.  And knowing is half the battle.

What can I say; I watched the end of way too many G.I. Joe cartoons as a kid.

Its been three years since Skeleton Closet, the last full length solo album by Dallas singer-songwriter Salim Nourallah.  On September 28, Mr. Nourallah will release Somewhere South of Sane, perhaps his most ambitious release to date.  It’s a double album spanning the length of twenty-one tracks.  The overall tone of the album falls somewhere between [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 9/17/18 So, next Monday is kind of a big deal. You see, that’s when The Ghost will announce the nominees for the 4th Annual Ghosty Awards, which will be held Wednesday, November 21st. I’ll share more with you in the coming weeks and months. I was originally going to just reflect on past winners of the [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 9/10/18 The Ghost doesn’t have time or energy today to come up with a cool theme or any witty commentary.  So, here are sixteen songs. • Monday Mixteen: 9/3/18 Technically speaking, the season of summer begins on June 21, then wraps up September 22.  To the majority of people, the bookends of summer are the holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day.  With those dates in mind, The Ghost is reflecting on the music of summer defined as the tracks released between those dates.  [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 8/20/18 The challenge I face every week is coming up with new and inventive themes for playlists.  The themes are sometimes not as creative as The Ghost would like.  The theme for the Monday Mixteen you are about to hear may be THE definitive playlist I have ever come up with. The theme?  Songs that start [...]
