Monday Mixteen: 9/3/18

Monday Mixteen 20180903

Technically speaking, the season of summer begins on June 21, then wraps up September 22.  To the majority of people, the bookends of summer are the holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day.  With those dates in mind, The Ghost is reflecting on the music of summer defined as the tracks released between those dates.  I have selected sixteen of the strongest and most memorable tracks and releases of that time period, and assembled it into today’s Monday Mixteen.

  1. Sealion, “Break My Bones”
  2. Xuan, “Sheila”
  3. KellyMarie (feat. Paul Demer), “Darlin’ Don’t”
  4. Ansley, “How to Be Alone”
  5. Little Father, “Violence”
  6. Maya Piata, “Working Sunday”
  7. Washed Up Rookie, “No Celebration”
  8. Mitchell Ferguson, “Cry”
  9. Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials, “Hangman”
  10. War Party, “Where I’m Calling From”
  11. The Belle Sounds, “Like a Villain”
  12. Bobby Sessions, “Politics”
  13. Broken Baby, “Hell from the Other Side of Hell No”
  14. Onetwothreescream, “Fault Lines”
  15. Cadillac Muzik, “Lac Gospel”
  16. Jacob Furr, “Life Comes at You Fast”

  • Monday Mixteen: 4/29/19 I had some ideas of what to cook up for today’s Monday Mixteen, but I just couldn’t figure out the right musical ingredients for the playlist.  On top of that, The Ghost just didn’t feel like serving up the dish of a carefully curated themed playlist.  So I did what people do when they’re lazy [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 4/1/19 You may be aware that this weekend is the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, and that Deep Ellum Radio has its own Artist’s Court Stage this year. You might have even heard that The Ghost is curating his own day’s worth of music on said stage. So yes, this is gonna be a good year for [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 3/25/19 For those not aware of Crowd Control, it’s a unique and cool Open Mic concept from Brittany Griffiths (Wavelength) and Billy Law.  The last Thursday of each month, Crowd Control hosts an open mic, and each month there is a theme.  The performers must present original material, and the performers are encouraged to tie their [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 3/18/19 Another Monday Mixteen, another week The Ghost is behind the curve.  International Women’s Day was ten days ago, and I’m just now doing an all female playlist.  Perhaps the better way to spin this is that I’m celebrating the Girls Club show at Granada Theater this Saturday, featuring Remy Reilly, Frankie Leonie, Maya Piata, and [...]
