Monday Mixteen Template 20181224

It’s that most wonderful time of the season.  It’s when we get to find out who’s been naughty, and who’s been nice.  It’s a time of gift-giving, and of spreading goodwill to your neighbor.  That’s right; it’s time to celebrate the upcoming Ghost’s Top 101 Songs of 2018.  But you knew that’s what I was talking about, right?

The countdown begins this Wednesday, with songs #101-71 being revealed.  Tracks #70-51 are announced the following day, and #50-41 being announced Friday.  Then Sunday night, starting at 3 PM CST, The Ghost will count down his Top 40 songs of the year, Casey Kasem style.

The tracks that are shared in this playlist are the songs that didn’t make the countdown.  Some fell a little short, while other tracks are from artists that made the cut with different songs.  Oh, and there are a few Christmas tracks thrown in as well.  Because, you know, ’tis the season and all.

  1. Old 97’s, “Christmas Is Coming”
  2. Calliope Musicals, “Cosmic Poison Arrow”
  3. Hello Shannon, “Still the World”
  4. Brian Lambert, “All I Want for Christmas is a Brand New Start”

  • Where The Ghost Will Be Tonight: 6/18... Have you ever noticed that on a musician’s birthday, they always want to play their music?  Forget a chance to just relax and enjoy performances by their friends and favorite acts.  Nope, most it seems would rather take the opportunity to be on stage themselves. Tonight is the birthday of Leah Lane, who will be [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 3/15/21 Normally during this week, many Dallasites would be making the trek down to Austin for SXSW week.  Yes, the festival is still happening, but only as an online event.  That means Austin likely has no packed hotels and motels, no ridiculous amount of traffic and foot traffic, and no venues with people packed in like [...]

  • The Ghosts Hearing Is 2020 That’s right: my hearing is 20/20 and I’m seeing things loud and clear.  I know that statement doesn’t make much sense, but hey, neither has anything else this year. But for all the awfulness that has been in overabundance this year, music has been one of the few saving graces of this year.  In spite [...]
