To celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday today, I felt it should be something that was incorporated in today’s Monday Mixteen. The Ghost’s first instinct was to do another acrostic playlist, with the song titles spelling out his name (minus the Jr. part). While I kept with that theme, I felt it was not enough to simply use his name. I started thinking about what Rev. King stood for. He spoke of the idea that all men were created equal. He fought for equality for all and inclusion. So in that spirit, I strived to make this playlist as diverse as possible. The musicians that make up these acts cross over lines of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual preference, and religion. It shows that Dallas’ music community is every bit as diverse as this city we live in. I hope these tunes bring you some joy today, and that your heart will be full of the same spirit of love as Rev. King.
