VW (Video Wednesday): 3/13/19

VW Beetle Reddish

Ah, Spring Break.  This time off not only serves as a recharging for The Ghost, but an opportunity to post a little more.  So let’s get to some videos on this Video Wednesday, shall we?

First, I’m starting with two videos that were featured on previous posts.  If you’re looking for the recent posts regarding Beth//James or Devi, well, those disappeared with the latest WordPress update.  I don’t have my commentary saved, but here are the videos for “Falling” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, respectively.

OK, now on to some newer videos.  Here’s the latest song from Rosegarden Funeral Party, entitled “Once in a While.”  It’s certainly the most accessible single they’ve done to date, leaning more towards the pop end of the dark wave spectrum.  Leah Lane, as always, proves to be a captivating frontwoman.  Here’s my question though: is it just me, or are some of the effects leaving screenshots looking overly pixelated, and not in a good way? I’ve noticed that in both the RFP and Devi videos.  Perhaps these shots just don’t translate as well onto larger screens; I don’t know.  I’m just throwing that out there and seeing what y’all think.  Still, an excellent videos even with those momentary issues.

The Ghost wants to give a big congratulations to young singer/songwriter Jade Nickol, who was just signed to State Fair Records.  A new EP is in the works, but in the meantime, enjoy her video of “I Wish You Were Gay.”

Finally, here’s something a little different from what I usually post.  My friend Georgia, the woman behind Dallas Music Live, finally got me to check out the Jonathan Fisher Quartet, who perform Sunday nights at The Balcony Club.  I must say, Mr. Fisher manages to assemble quite the talented group of musicians.  Here’s the band jamming out on “Bye Bye Blackbird.”
