Today’s edition of Video Wednesday is as easy as ABC. You don’t believe The Ghost? Follow along, and you’ll see.
We start with A, which stands for Acid Carousel. The band just released a brand new single, “Eyes Glow”, as well as an accompanying video. The main character in the video is a nosy neighbor, wondering if her neighbors (Acid Carousel) are cult members. The band, I mean, cult members proceed to act weird and goofy and sing and play guitar. The neighbor decides she will investigate the home of Acid Carousel, I mean, the cult compound. Spoiler alert: she becomes queen of the cult. Because Acid Carousel are nice cultists like that.
Next up is B for Blushing. This shoegaze act from Austin has become a huge favorite of mine, and their new video for “Dream Merchants” does nothing to calm my fandom. I will say that the video doesn’t break much new ground. The unique color filters, blurry images, and such, however, are a perfect visual complement to Blushing’s trippy, dreamy style.
Finally, we end with C for Chris Welch and The Cicada Killers. Hey, iTunes alphabetical style here. The band just released an over the top, ridiculous homage to the classic Scooby Doo cartoons for their latest video, “Borrowed Repertoire”. Plenty of ridiculous monster costumes and chase scenes ensue. But as always, the bad guys are caught and unmasked. Turns out to be some of the “Shoenappers” from their last video. And they would’ve gotten away with it if it weren’t for those pesky Cicada Killers!
