The Monday Mixteen: 8/17/20

Monday Mixteen 20200817

Anyone can make a playlist.  Even any hack can make a Monday Mixteen playlist, as that jerk from Coffeebreak Cafe proved last week.  It takes real talent, however, to make The Monday Mixteen.  Only The Ghost has The Skills to pay The Bills, so to speak.  I’ve brought back a concept I used a few years back, featuring songs whose first word is “The.”  From there, I knew I wanted to start with The Best, and after that would be The Rest.  Then after that, well, I guess it’s the rest after The Rest.  So enjoy The songs here, presented by The Ghost.

  1. “The Best”, Cryptolog
  2. “The Rest”, Foxtales
  3. “The Driver IS the Traffic”, Corner Suns
  4. “The Paleontologist”, Amanda Pascali
  5. “The One”, Jessie Frye
  6. “The Message”, Cut Throat Finches
  7. “The Mime”, Danielle Grubb
  8. “The Old Ones”, Bomethius
  9. “The Void”, Mean Motor Scooter
  10. “The Dropouts”, Old 97’s
  11. “The Sparrow Spooked the Crow”, Dove Hunter
  12. “The Man That Time Forgot”, Charley Crockett
  13. “The Kind of Love”, Somogyi
  14. “The Vine”, Ronnie Heart
  15. “The Natives”, Vandoliers
  16. “The Hammer”, Michael Witt

Oh, and as for that Coffeebreak Cafe, two can play at the hacking game.

  • The Top 101 Songs of 2020: #101-81 When people look back on the year 2020, most of what will come to mind is the pandemic, as well as financial and emotional loss, not to mention the psychological effects of social distancing.  Yes, this has been a rough year, and our music community was most definitely hit hard by the events of 2020.  [...]
  • The Ghosts Hearing Is 2020 That’s right: my hearing is 20/20 and I’m seeing things loud and clear.  I know that statement doesn’t make much sense, but hey, neither has anything else this year. But for all the awfulness that has been in overabundance this year, music has been one of the few saving graces of this year.  In spite [...]
  • The Bandcamp FEE-FREE Friday Five Foreword from The Ghost: For months, The Ghost has been meaning to do a First Friday post promoting Bandcamp’s waiving of artist’s fee.  The article would be a compilation of artists whose music is on Bandcamp recommending other artists on Bandcamp.
