The Monday Mixteen: 8/17/20

Monday Mixteen 20200817

Anyone can make a playlist.  Even any hack can make a Monday Mixteen playlist, as that jerk from Coffeebreak Cafe proved last week.  It takes real talent, however, to make The Monday Mixteen.  Only The Ghost has The Skills to pay The Bills, so to speak.  I’ve brought back a concept I used a few years back, featuring songs whose first word is “The.”  From there, I knew I wanted to start with The Best, and after that would be The Rest.  Then after that, well, I guess it’s the rest after The Rest.  So enjoy The songs here, presented by The Ghost.

  1. “The Best”, Cryptolog
  2. “The Rest”, Foxtales
  3. “The Driver IS the Traffic”, Corner Suns
  4. “The Paleontologist”, Amanda Pascali
  5. “The One”, Jessie Frye
  6. “The Message”, Cut Throat Finches
  7. “The Mime”, Danielle Grubb
  8. “The Old Ones”, Bomethius
  9. “The Void”, Mean Motor Scooter
  10. “The Dropouts”, Old 97’s
  11. “The Sparrow Spooked the Crow”, Dove Hunter
  12. “The Man That Time Forgot”, Charley Crockett
  13. “The Kind of Love”, Somogyi
  14. “The Vine”, Ronnie Heart
  15. “The Natives”, Vandoliers
  16. “The Hammer”, Michael Witt

Oh, and as for that Coffeebreak Cafe, two can play at the hacking game.

  • Monday Mixteen: 3/15/21 Normally during this week, many Dallasites would be making the trek down to Austin for SXSW week.  Yes, the festival is still happening, but only as an online event.  That means Austin likely has no packed hotels and motels, no ridiculous amount of traffic and foot traffic, and no venues with people packed in like [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 3/8/21 Unless if you’ve been living under a rock. you have probably heard about the two COVID related mandates issued by Governor Abbott.  These mandates, which go into effect Wednesday, deal with business capacity, and the other with masks in public. • Monday Mixteen: 3/1/21 It’s been a little over a year since America learned of its first COVID death.  The following year has been hard for pretty much everyone on both a personal and financial note.  Some industries, however, have found their livelihoods more impacted by the pandemic than others.  Those in the music and artistic communities have been [...]
  • Monday Mixteen: 2/22/21 Last week was indeed a long week.  While The Ghost was without heat, neither power nor water services were disrupted.  That means that through space heaters, firewood, and cats, I made it through the week alright.  Plus, I had lots of spare time.  In fact, I took the opportunity to do some painting classes, where [...]
